Festival Merah Putih X BliBli
Modernizing Tradition: Motion & Voice-Controlled Independence Day Games
High-energy, high-traffic, and unmistakably Indonesian.
Cultural Heritage Goes Digital Content
For the "Festival Merah Putih" mall activation, we partnered with Mahavisual to reinvent Indonesia's most iconic Independence Day games for Djarum Group brands (Blibli & Philips).
Instead of messy sacks or physical contact, we built a fully touchless experience using sensors:
Digital Balap Karung (Sack Race): Controlled by full-body jumps using Kinect.
Kuda Tomprok (Leapfrog): A voice-powered racing game controlled by shouting volume.
Located in a high-traffic mall atrium, the activation successfully attracted over 5,000 participants, ranging from curious shoppers to competitive office workers.
Precision in a Chaotic Environment

Although the gameplay looks simple, the technical execution required advanced tuning:
🔺 1. Balap Karung (Kinect Motion Game)
Kinect needed to detect rapid side jumps accurately
Participants wore casual/office clothing → movement detection must remain stable
Mall lighting and reflections constantly changed
Gameplay had to feel responsive and fun for all ages
🔺 2. Kuda Tomprok (Voice-Controlled Game)
System needed to read voice amplitude in real-time
Must ignore background noise from a busy mall
Character speed had to sync smoothly with vocal intensity
“MERDEKA!” must be recognized instantly to start the game
🔺 3. Event Flow & Audience Type
Players were mostly young adults and office workers
They expect fast, smooth, modern interactions
Queue rotations must be fast despite high curiosity and replays
Games must be self-explanatory — no long instructions
Our Approach
Balap Karung Digital (Kinect)
Custom movement mapping engineered for fast left-right jumping
Enlarged motion hitbox for players wearing skirts, pants, or office shoes
Anti-lag tuning for zero motion delay
Light, colorful UI inspired by 17-an competitions
Kuda Tomprok (Voice-Powered Racing)
Built our own real-time voice amplitude engine
Directional microphone setup to reduce ambient noise
Smooth speed curve so character runs naturally with vocal intensity
“MERDEKA!” shout trigger to begin the race — fun and iconic
Visual Identity
Fully custom Indonesian-style character & environment
Consistent with Philips x Blibli activation materials
Bright, bold, and easily recognizable colors to attract attention.

Crowd-Pulling Reliability
The booth became one of the most crowded attractions during the Festival Merah Putih:
5,000+ total participants
Majority were young adults, office workers, and mall visitors
Extremely high curiosity → strong repeat play
Voice detection remained stable even during peak crowd traffic
Kinect tracking stayed accurate despite lighting shifts
Average rotation time remained under 3 minutes, ensuring smooth queues
The combination of physical activity and voice gameplay made the booth engaging for a wide demographic
